I thought I was an aeronaut
Cruising space on high-speed jets
But the engine failed and I got caught
Turns out I’m just a space cadet
I thought I was a king
From a line of virtuous ancestors
But the monarchs died without offspring
Turns out I’m just a jester
I thought I was a gambling shark
On any bet I’d raise the price
But I went too far and missed the mark
Turns out you can’t just load the dice
I thought I was a sage grandmaster
Checking mates with speedy chess
But the hare can lose while running faster
Turns out my gambit made a mess
I forgot the feeling of the ground
Since my head was in the clouds
My dreams had blurred my present state
Ironically that spoiled my fate
Now I don’t imagine me
In someplace I hope to be
I don’t get stuck on where I’ll go
I’ll grow from here and now I know
That I can fly without a jet
And I can lead without a crown
Winning moves don’t need a bet
By losing these it’s me I’ve found
